Professional Drum School Policies
These policies will give you direction on what is expected if you want to become a student of Professional Drum School.
LESSON POLICIES
Agreement: The instructor and the student will initiate an agreement that the instructor will teach ‘all’of his/her knowledge and the student will LISTEN and DO what is asked. Attention to this agreement will result in the student’s positive musical education and playing success.
Tuition: 30 minute lesson - $25.00
60 minute lesson – $50.00
Families with more than 1 student at the drum school: 1st student – regular rate
2nd student or more – additional 10% discount
Attendance: Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons.
Advanced Notice: 48 Hour notice must be give if a lesson is to be cancelled.
No shows: if a student misses a lesson without advance notice, the lesson will be charged at the regular rate. After 2 ‘no shows’, the student will be dropped from the regular schedule and the lesson slot will be re-assigned. No shows will be charged at the regular rate.
Make-up Lessons: Every effort will be made to schedule a make-up lesson for advanced notice cancellations. It is possible that a make-up lesson will be scheduled with another instructor if schedules require it. Make-up lessons will be given up to 30 days after the missed lesson. Otherwise, the lesson is forfeited
Tuition Payment: Tuition payments are due on a monthly basis and are payable at the first lesson of the given month. If payment is not made within 30 days of the 1st lesson, the student will be terminated.
Tuition for semester classes is due at the first class unless other arrangements have been made with Professional Drum School.
If a check is returned for Non-Sufficient Funds, the charges incurred will be forwarded on to the student or parent.
Practice Policies
Practice = Progress: the student is expected to practice DAILY – at least 30 minutes a day 6 days a week. Daily practice (even for a short amount of time) will result in more progress than a long ‘panic’ session of practice the day before or the day of the lesson.
If the student shows a lack of commitment to this practice expectation, the instructor will visit with the student and parents to try and resolve the situation.
Lesson/Class Materials
Music, Books, Sticks, Mallets: Students are expected to bring ALL materials with them to the lesson or class. Coming to a lesson without music and sticks/mallets is like showing up to a concert without an instrument. The student must learn to be prepared and responsible with these basics. The student will gain greater self-confidence and will progress at a quicker rate.
General Policies
Pre-Requisites: Any student is welcome. The only necessary pre-requisites are the PASSION for music and drumming (percussion) and the DESIRE to learn.
Professional Drum School has students from age 6 through adult. Students younger than 6 will be evaluated on an individual basis for consideration in the lesson schedule
Parents-Siblings-Relatives: Classes or lessons can be observed at any time. Visitors are expected to remain quiet and attentive, but will be given a time for questions or comments during the last few minutes of the lesson.
Equipment Rental: Mallet practice instruments are available for rental. Arrangements can be made using the Professional Drum School Rental Agreement.
Medical Concerns: Professional Drum School needs to be made aware of any and all student medical issues. If a student emergency occurs, we will be prepared to react quickly and responsively.
